Celebrate the 1-Year Anniversary of the opening of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture!  Join the Southeastern Virginia Arts Association (SEVAA) as we embark on a 1-day trip to DC to tour the National Museum of African American History & Culture.

SEVAA BOOK AND LITERARY ARTS FAIR

SEVAA will begin 2017 with our LITERARY ART/BOOK FAIR being held on Saturday, January 14th, 11am-5pm at Holland Elementary School in Virginia Beach.  The Literary Arts/Book Fair is being hosted by SEVAA's Literary Arts Discipline Committee.  SEVAA is inviting the public to come out and support authors and literary professionals throughout Hampton Roads.  

The theme, Futuristic Configuration, is dedicated to supporting the future of literary art!  Free and open to the public, this year's event registration includes a donation on behalf of SEVAA to the Holland Elementary School PTA.  "We are so excited and pleased to have our event supported by Holland Elementary and the Virginia Beach City Public Schools!" said Marquita Leary, SEVAA Literary Arts Discipline Committee Chairperson.  

Books, information and literary materials of all genre will be available as well as readings, discussions and demonstrations throughout the day. SEVAA also invites published authors, publishers, graphic illustrators, greeting card or notebook designers, suppliers or anyone having literary works or products to sell or display to register as a vendor.  The registration fee includes display section with table and chairs, a donation to the Holland Elementary School PTA and membership into SEVAA!   For more information contact Marquita Leary (757) 401-0783 or This email address is being protected from spambots. SEVAA TRAVELS TO GRAND OPENING OF NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE

NMAAHC GRAND OPENINGSEVAA CELEBRATES HISTORY IN THE MAKING!!  BUS TRIP TO GRAND OPENING OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2016!

Join the SOUTHEASTERN VIRGINIA ARTS ASSOCIATION for the GRAND OPENING of the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE on the National Mall in Washington, DC  – Saturday, September 24, 2016. 

Hampton Road’s premier African American cultural arts organization SEVAA is sponsoring a historic trip to Washington, DC in celebration and honor of the first National Museum dedicated to African American History and Culture. “The National Museum of African American History and Culture will be a place where all Americans can learn about the richness and diversity of the African American experience, what it means to their lives and how it helped shape this nation.”

Buses are departing for a one-day trip to Washington, DC for the Opening Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting with President Barack Obama delivering the opening address, a tour of the new Museum, a visit to the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, and visits to other museums and exhibits on the National Mall.  This historic event will be attended by thousands across the nation! 

Busses will depart Norfolk, VA on Saturday, September 24th at 4:30am and arrive in Washington, DC at 8:30am!  Return departure from the National Mall at 6:00pm, arriving Norfolk, VA at 9:30pm.
